2014 Post-February Mental Instability Pool

The start of the NCAA Tournament means office pools.  As part of our tradition at MODA4, we sponsor a grid pool for clients, colleagues, and friends….And the grid has been released!

The selection committee has populated the squares and the numbers have been randomly generated by the site:  random.org (here).

This year’s prizes include gift cards, rounds of golf, and of course, straight cash (baby), for the final game.

You can find a copy of the current grid here

Happy Selection Sunday!

Season’s Greetings to you and yours!

Cotton On (www.cottonon.com) is an Australian retail brand primed for growth, as a leader in the specialty-fashion retail category.  Including a series of remodels and new-builds, the brand has aspirations to dramatically increase/improve their presence throughout the US.  MODA4 has been selected as an architectural-design partner to help their goals become a reality on a multi-site basis.

Kuhns Group Construction (www.kuhnsgroupinc.com) is a restaurant-focused general contractor that provides turn-key services for remodel and new-build projects.  As a chosen member of their design-build team, MODA4 provides the design support needed for a variety of KFC and Taco Bell projects across the US.

March is here, one of the most magical times of the year.  Spring is right around the corner, the weather starts to warm, and the sunshine reigns down.  Yeah, yeah, yeah…that’s all good, but we were thinking St. Patrick’s Day and March Madness, including Dayton, OH hosting the “First Four” games as well as Second Round games at UD Arena!

Jason Sheets will be traveling to Austin, TX to survey a location for a new Swatch store.

NOTE:  As is a MODA4 tradition, we will be closed on our officially observed “holiday” of March 21-22 in reverence of the Second Round games.

Welcome to 2013!  We hope everyone had a relaxing, safe and enjoyable Holiday.  An exciting year is on tap, and we are ready to get after it.

Given the “fresh start” that comes with the turn of the calendar, felt it is an opportune time to highlight the services that MODA4 offers, a sampling of projects completed and so on.

We are an architectural-design firm that specializes in development of retail, restaurant, and hospitality spaces, as well as corporate interiors.  MODA4 performs work and partners with clients on both a local and national level, and are licensed in over 20 states nationwide.  The mission has always been to offer our clients the same large firm expertise and resources coupled with the attention and zeal of a boutique design studio.

A sampling of retail/restaurant projects includes Swatch, Godiva, Planet Fitness, Petsmart, Roost, Rue Dumaine, and Oink-ADoodleMoo.

A sampling of corporate office/interiors projects includes Northrup Grumman, Sogeti, Datayard, SAIC, Pentagon Tower & Point and Kettering Health Network.

We would be ecstatic to discuss your visions and goals, please contact us at any time!

Congrats to our (great) client, Datayard!

Datayard (formerly Donet) has officially opened its doors to its new facility.  And we couldn’t be happier for them.  The co-founders, Dave Mezera & Leigh Sandy, had a lot on their mind (a company re-brand, $1.85M construction project, lease negotiations…not to mention continuing to support their clients to their fullest and guiding their own rapid internal company growth), but yet were always positive and engaged throughout the design process.  They truly valued the effort and expertise of MODA4, and they were a joy to work for and support.

Early in the process, it became evident that Dave & Leigh greatly valued their brand and company culture.  It showed through in their employees as well.  We were determined to give them a space that supported their culture, enhanced their brand, and increased their productivity (see some progress photos here).  Interior brand elements/signage were designed in cooperation with Sparkbox.

The project was done design-build with Ferguson Construction.  The bulk of the construction budget was allotted (rightfully so) to their 5,000 sf data center, so cost was a serious concern.  We were able to reuse and refinish most of their existing systems furniture and integrate it with some new pieces.  Simplistic finishes were used to reinforce the brand and add depth/materiality without excessive cost.  Space utilization was far more efficient, so they were able to get more production per sf.

We are proud of the finished product, but most importantly, Datayard loves it and has already identified and measured the benefits of a more efficient and inspiring work place.

Photos of their open house event can be found here.  Let us know if you see our house warning gifts in the photos: A railroad spike re-purposed into a bottle opener and a serving tray/coaster set made from the materials used in the office build out.
